Join us for Yappy Hour – A Pawsitively Awesome Adoption Event at the Canterra Event Space in collaboration with local shelters and rescue partners. This one-of-a-kind event brings together adorable adoptable pups, professional pet photography, and a whole lot of four-legged joy — all in one fun-filled afternoon in Elmwood Village.
Whether you’re a lifelong dog lover, looking to adopt, or just want a great photo of your pup, this event has something for everyone (and every tail)!
Adoptable Dogs on Site
Meet playful, loving, and adoption-ready shelter dogs from local rescue organizations. Trained handlers will be on-site to answer questions and help you get to know each pup’s personality. Fall in love? You may just go home with a new furry family member!
Pet Photo Mini-Sessions
We’ve partnered with a talented local pet photographer offering themed photo mini-sessions with props, backdrops, and all the tricks to make your pet’s personality shine. Whether you’re capturing a solo glam shot or posing with your pup, this is a perfect way to get high-quality memories of your best friend.
Photo Props & Treats
Our DIY photo booth and prop station is stocked with bowties, bandanas, squeaky toys, sunglasses, and more! Plus, enjoy free samples and treats from local pet vendors — because every good dog deserves a little spoiling.
Pup Play Zone & Chill Lounge
No adoption pressure here — come play, mingle, or just hang out. Take a breather in our shaded “Chill Zone,” where dogs can cool off with water bowls and frozen treats while you chat with fellow animal lovers and maybe sip a (non-infused) sparkling lemonade from a nearby stand.

Reserve a time slot online in advance or sign up at the check-in table. Walk-ups welcome as space allows!
Mini-session proceeds benefit local animal shelters and include a digital download of your best shot. Additional images available for purchase.

We’re teaming up with Buffalo-based rescue groups and local creatives to create joyful, inclusive events that not only bring smiles but also help shelter animals find loving homes.
Adoption is a powerful way to save lives, and even if you’re not ready to adopt today, your support helps make rescue work possible. Every tail wag, every shared post, and every happy snap contributes to building a better world for pets and people alike.
All friendly, leashed pets are welcome. (Please bring waste bags and keep dogs on a 6-foot or shorter leash — no retractables, please!)

Kids are welcome! This is a family-friendly event with space to roam, play, and learn about pet care and adoption.
Held in the Canterra Event Space at 451 Elmwood Ave, this event takes place right next to our NYS-licensed cannabis dispensary, though the event itself is strictly non-consumption and open to all ages. Expect music, laughter, tail wags, and plenty of positive energy.
You’ll be steps away from our 716 Day vendors and neighborhood shopping, so make a day of it — browse the market, grab a snack, and soak up the good vibes with your favorite four-legged companion.
