One of the best things about being part of the Elmwood Village is the creativity that flows through it. Artists, herbalists, bakers, crafters, growers — Buffalo is full of talented people making beautiful, useful, intentional things. From the beginning, we knew we wanted Canterra to be more than just a retail store — we wanted it to be a platform for the community to connect, support one another, and share what we’re building.
That’s why we created our marketplace model — a way to open up our space to local artisans, vendors, and small brands to showcase their work, meet new customers, and grow their reach, completely free of charge.
We don’t take a cut. We don’t charge table fees. We don’t gatekeep based on how long you’ve been in business or how big your following is. If you make something with care and intention, you’re welcome here.
What It Looks Like in Action
During events at Dreamhouse by Canterra, you’ll often find small pop-up vendors set up throughout the space. These are local folks — often first-time sellers or emerging brands — who are bringing handcrafted goods, art prints, zines, teas, candles, ceramics, jewelry, skincare, you name it. Some come for one event, others return regularly and have become part of our extended Canterra family.
Our goal is to create a low-pressure, high-connection environment, where neighbors can meet makers, ask questions, try samples, and support Buffalo’s creative economy without the formality or overhead of a traditional marketplace.
It’s one more way we’re putting our square footage to work for the community.
Mindful Markets — Every Last Wednesday
To make it easier for folks to connect, we also host a monthly Mindful Market on the last Wednesday of every month. These markets are an ongoing series designed to celebrate slow goods, intentional living, and plant-forward wellness. Think of it as a pop-up farmer’s market meets art show meets hangout space.
Vendors rotate each month, so there’s always something new to discover. We keep the vibe relaxed — music playing, drinks on hand, good conversations flowing — and open the doors for anyone who wants to stop in, browse, and meet their neighbors.
Mindful Markets are a great way to:
-
Support local artisans and first-time vendors
-
Find handmade, seasonal, or one-of-a-kind items
-
Learn about new small businesses in Buffalo
-
Explore wellness products, home goods, gifts, and more
-
Just get out of the house and do something different midweek
Whether you’re shopping or just stopping by, you’re part of what makes these events meaningful.
Want to Join Us as a Vendor?
We’re always looking for local creators to feature. If you’re a small business, side hustler, student, or just someone who makes cool things in your spare time — let’s talk. You don’t need a polished website or big inventory. We’ll help you get set up, promote your presence on our socials, and welcome you into the mix.
This is about building something together — a marketplace that reflects the values of our community: inclusion, creativity, mutual support, and joy.
Making Space — On Purpose
In a city like Buffalo, small business isn’t just business — it’s personal. At Canterra, we’re doing everything we can to use our platform, our space, and our voice to lift up the people around us. The marketplace model is just one part of that. It’s not perfect, and it’s still evolving, but it’s working — because of the people who show up, share their work, and support one another.
If you haven’t been to one of our markets yet, we’d love to see you at the next one. And if you know a local maker who should be involved, send them our way. Let’s keep building something good — together.
